How to play Minesweeper
Open every square that isn't a mine. A number on an open square tells you how many mines touch it, including corners. Use the numbers to work out which squares are safe.
- Your first square is always safe and opens a patch of the board. Start anywhere, or at the square marked with a star (★). The daily board always starts at the star.
- You can clear every board here by reasoning from the numbers. You never have to guess.
- Tap a square to open it. To mark a square you know is a mine, turn on Flag mode and tap it (or right-click it).
- When a number has all its mines flagged, tap the number to open every other square around it.
- If you open a mine, the game shows all the mines. Undo takes the move back.
Choose Beginner (9 × 9, 10 mines), Intermediate (16 × 16, 40 mines) or Expert (30 × 16, 99 mines). There is no time limit. Hint shows a square you can prove is safe, or one that must be a mine.
Keyboard
Arrow keys move around the board. Enter opens a square, or opens around a number. Space or F places or removes a flag. H shows a hint, and Ctrl+Z undoes a move.
